Q. What is POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN DISEASE (PCOD)?

A. It is the condition where there is incomplete maturation of egg and it becomes a cyst in the ovary (swelling) and this happens every month therefore there are multiple small cysts (2 - 9 mm) in the ovary. Therefore it is called as polycystic ovarian disease.

 

Q. Why it occurs?

A. There are many causes the main cause is hormonal imbalance which regulates your periods every month.

 

Q. Is it life style disease?

A. Yes, it is related to stress, weight gain, sedentary life style, junk food, diabetes etc.

 

Q. Is it completely treatable?

A. Symptoms due to PCOD can be treated, but it depends on the severity of the disease.

 

Q. What other symptoms can I have If I have PCOD?

A. Obesity, irregular menses, Prolonged cycles, no periods, increased hairs over body and face, hair loss from head, and increased acne.
