URINARY PROBLEMS

Q. What Urinary problems can I face during pregnancy?

A. You can have increased frequency of urination in first three months of pregnancy and last three months of pregnancy.

Q. Can the urinary problems which I face in pregnancy become alright after delivery?

A. Yes, but you need to do the perineal exercise (Kegel's exercises) to strengthen your perineal muscles  and lower part of belly. As the muscles and tissues are stretched during pregnancy, it takes time to gain strength back to have full control of urination.

Q. I have leakage of urine during coughing, laughing and lifting weight, why is this occuring to me after delivery?

A. This condition is called as stress incontinence. It occurs due to excessive stretching of the muscles of perineum (lower part of belly) during delivery and after menopause (due to decreased hormonal levels after menopause)

Q. Is any treatment possible?

 A. Yes, initially perineal (Kegel's) exercises are done initially, if that fails than surgical treatment and behavioral therapy is done.

A. It is called as urge incontinence, and it usually occurs commonly due to infection though there are other causes for detursor instability, like tumors, pregnancy etc.

A. Yes, it is possible to treat urge incontinence after diagnosing the cause for it.

Q. I am having burning micturation, burning and frequency of urination, what is it?

A. You are having urinary tract infection or it can be due to stone in urinary tract. The management includes antibiotics and other drugs to control infection and reduce irritability of the urinary tract.
