Q. What is LAPAROSCOPY?

A. It is a key hole surgery by which any ovarian mass or uterus can be removed.

 

Q. Does Laparoscopy require admission and anaesthesia?

A. Yes, you have to get admitted for laparoscopy and is conducted under general anaesthesia.

 

Q. How is better than open surgery?

A. very small two or three scars (open surgery has long big scar). And in laparoscopy hospital stay is two to three days while in open surgery hospital stay is 5 to 6 days.

 

Q. Will the cost of surgery be same as open surgery?

A. No, the cost of Laparoscopy is bit higher because of costly instrumentation and disposable materials used.

 

Q. I have got big fibroid, can that also be removed by key hole surgery?

A. Yes, except in some cases.

 

Q. Can tubes be opened by Laparoscopy?

A. Yes, blocked tubes can be opened by Laparoscopy.

 

Q. Are the complications of Laparoscopic surgery same as open surgery?

A. No, the complications in Laparoscopic surgery are bit more because of prolonged anaesthesia and technical nature of the surgery.

 

Q. I have got dermoid cyst of ovary, can it be taken out by Laparoscopy?

A. Yes, it can be removed by Laparoscopic surgery.
